Nationally recognized care

Quality care starts with quality doctors

When it comes to your health, you want to know you’re getting the care you need not only from a team that’s dedicated to your wellness, but from the entire health system that supports it. Kaiser Permanente has one of the largest multispecialty medical groups in the country — and the 1,700+ physicians in the region who provide your care are backed by that breadth of skill, knowledge, and experience.

Kaiser Permanente only recruits physicians from the top medical schools in the country, and even then, just 1 in 5 applicants becomes a Permanente physician. Every Permanente doctor is board-certified,1 and their skills and manner with patients are rigorously vetted before joining the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group. If you need more reason to feel confident in the quality of care you’re getting, consider this:

  • Hundreds of Permanente physicians recognized annually as Top Doctors2
  • Received 5 out of 5, the highest rating in the region3

  • 5 out of 5 star Medicare rating 11 years in a row (2013–2023)4
  • Kaiser Permanente as a national enterprise is rated #1 overall among 60+ insurance carriers by Insure.com5

Additionally, recent research by The Permanente Journal shows that Kaiser Permanente members have significantly longer life expectancy compared to the national average. Members’ life expectancy at birth ranged from 84.6–85.2 years, 6 years longer than the national average of 78.6–78.9 years.6

Doctors who collaborate on your care

Kaiser Permanente’s integrated system connects your doctors and care team to one another, so they all know your health history and can provide care that meets your specific needs. This collaboration increases the speed of diagnosis and gets you to treatment sooner.

Preventive measures that keep you in control of your life

Frequent monitoring and early detection are key to better outcomes. Kaiser Permanente is a national leader in breast cancer screenings with 85% of members screened in 2022, and we lead the nation in percentage of members screened for colon cancer at 80% and for cervical cancer at 90%. And we’re tops in the region with controlling blood pressure among eligible members at 80%.5

A commitment to delivering care excellence

Serious or ongoing health matters typically need specialized care. Kaiser Permanente has board-certified doctors in over 50 specialties and sub-specialties, so no matter what your needs are you’ll get care that’s made just for your condition—and for you.

CHRONIC CARE When you have a chronic illness like diabetes or high blood pressure, your care team works with you to manage your condition with frequent screening measures and advanced treatments. Remote monitoring, 24/7 phone advice, and routine video checkups6 make it easy for you and your doctor to stay on top of your health. Pair those with disease management programs, wellness classes, and other measures, and you’ll be managing your condition in no time. Read more about care for chronic conditions.

CANCER CARE Kaiser Permanente is the first non-hospital multispecialty care provider to receive accreditation with commendation as a comprehensive community cancer program.7 That’s largely because your care team of skilled Permanente oncologists, geneticists, radiologists, pathologists, and surgeons work together to develop a comprehensive treatment plan based on evidence-based guidelines and your unique needs. With early screening measures, same-day test results for mammograms, minimally invasive surgery options, and advanced cancer-fighting technology, our physicians can give you the specialized care you deserve.
